South Western KY EDC Joins with Cadiz-Trigg County
Hopkinsville, KY – The South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council and the Cadiz/Trigg County Economic Development Commission formally announced their unification at a press conference Friday morning at the SWK EDCs offices in Hopkinsville. The merger will take place immediately. The expanded organization will now promote economic development in Christian, Todd and Trigg Counties.
Eston Glover, Chairman of the SWK EDC announced the partnership stating “This new partnership will allow all three counties to work as one economic entity promoting the entire region. This is another positive advancement for our region.”
Donald A. Leibee, Chairman of the Cadiz/Trigg County EDC said “I am extremely pleased to join the SWK EDC. We have been working together for several years to improve our communities and this formalizes the process. The merger will make us more productive in the future.”
Christian County Judge-Executive Steve Tribble commented “it is a natural fit that Trigg County joins efforts with Christian and Todd County to collectively partner in long-term growth, job creation and investment opportunities. Regionalism allows for combined efforts and a unified voice.”
Todd County Judge-Executive Darrell Greenfield stated, “the merger with Hopkinsville and Christian County has been very positive for Todd County and I feel it will be positive for all three counties.”
Trigg County Judge-Executive Hollis Alexander expressed his excitement about the new partnership. “I believe this expanded regional approach is a good fit for all of the partners. We look forward to working with the group to promote the entire region to prospective industries as well as supporting our existing businesses.”
Hopkinsville Mayor Dan Kemp also expressed his thoughts, “The addition of Cadiz and Trigg County to the Southwestern Kentucky Economic Development Council is a very positive development. It strengthens our marketing and economic growth programs in a significant way.”
Sharon Butts will join the expanding organization as the Associate Director–Trigg County. She will have office hours in both Cadiz and Hopkinsville working for the entire region. Mitch Robinson, Executive Director of the SWK EDC stated “I look forward to Sharon joining our team since we have worked together for the past two years. She’s a great addition without outstanding knowledge of economic development and Trigg County.” The Cadiz/Trigg County Economic Development Commission will still remain in place as a land owning development group much like the Hopkinsville Industrial Foundation and the Todd County Industrial Foundation function in their respective communities. The promotion and marketing of the region, as well as, the work with existing industries will be handled by the SWK EDC for all three counties.
