Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc. began their commitment to the community in 1946 by providing dignified care to families at times of personal loss. When that commitment started 67 years ago, it was established by Mr. A. K. Goodwin on principles of dignity, caring and most importantly, trust. Those three traits were carried on through
owners Chat and Martha Maxfield and presently John R., III and Margie Vinson. Dignity, caring and trust are not just their business principles, they are their livelihood. Whether it is providing support for a local organization or assisting a family in a time of loss, their commitment stays the same as it has for over sixty-seven years.
To continue their commitment to families, Goodwin Funeral Home is investing over $750,000 in a new expansion wing from the current historical building which will add over 7,000 sq. ft. of additional space to meet the community and family needs. The first phase is nearly complete in which they will house their own crematory to economically serve and protect the families rising cost of cremation. The completion of the crematory is scheduled to be finished by end of February. The second phase will be the 7,000 sq. ft. wing in which a new chapel, five vehicle garage bay, family lounge, bathroom facilities and new work station areas will be provided. The second phase renovation is targeted to be completed by middle of summer. Goodwin Funeral Home has also invested an additional $50,000 in renovations to the current historical building giving it a new fresh look inside and out.
All the labor and financing that is being done on the renovations and new expansion are being done with local dollars to support our local contractors and sub-contractors, along with purchasing materials from local businesses in our community.
As a community we are proud to have an established family owned business that genuinely cares and contributes to their hometown. We congratulate them on their many years of success!
